I'm not OP, but my idea would be that the teachers would continue to do childcare in the classrooms but refuse to actually teach. Since an uneducated population affects everyone (not just parents and students), theoretically the government should care about it. Was that what you had in mind, OP?

That is a terrible idea. The whole point of the strike would have to be that teaching has become too dangerous and they’re striking for safer working conditions. It’s a little hard argue that when you’re sitting in the school with your students.

I agree. My DW and I are both elementary teachers and we don't want to spend a day "babysitting".

PP here. I think the best thing that schools can do is to band together, figure out who to support in the elections to get some semblance of gun control and constantly encourage all parents to vote that way. Otherwise many parents (especially in pretty much any part of the country outside DMV) just wouldn't really be confident about which way to vote, or that their vote is so important.

I know they probably want to keep politics out of schools, and for good reasons, but I think this reason supersedes those.

I’d support that and be willing to take my vacation to watch other people’s kids who didn’t have coverage

I think most parents would support it, especially if they had appropriate notice so could make other arrangements.

I don't know, but I'd support that.

Like a 10 week strike until something is done.
