Yes, DH has a job that requires him to carry a firearm home every day. He stores the gun in a safe, unloaded, and the ammunition in a separate lock box on the top shelf of the garage before he comes into the house. We explain this to parents and understand 100% if they prefer to not allow their child to come over.
makes sense. my FIL has a couple of guns (that I've never seen him use). they're in a safe, unloaded, in the back of the garage. the ammo is locked away separately. I *hate* guns, but haven't felt unsafe bringing my daughter into their house. of course, it helps that I know them and I know he would never be irresponsible with them.
