NP. Ok, either way, you are not keeping a close enough eye on him if he had the opportunity to eat a sock. He should be crated when you can't keep an eye on him or leashed, or you keep your eyes on him at all times. Like a toddler.

This - OMG the PP with the childhood dog who ate a cassette tape. You might have made it 10x worse by pulling on it. That’s what strains the intestines.

NEVER pull on anything that's hanging out of his rear end.

Take him to the vet if he stops popping, stops eating, or you think something's stuck.

Definitely. The only things that should be on the ground are dog toys.

Get down on your hands and knees and pretend you're a puppy--puppy proof from that perspective.

My dog growing up ate a cassette tape and it came out the other end. He was in so much pain that he hid under a bed and we started pulling on it. Took him to the animal hospital and he had to get his entire stomach cut open to get it out and 26 stitches. Dumb but sweet.

You are lucky he pooped it out. I had a standard poodle pup who ate a sock that got stuck in his intestines. The doctor had to remove 13 inches of intestine because that portion of intestine died. He was fine as the vet explained that 13 inches is not much.

That he ate 2 days ago.
I am relieved he won't need surgery.

Does anyone know when they stop doing this? (Normally I get to him and pull whatever he's got, out of his mouth - but he snuck this sock when I wasn't looking.)
