This will only happen if candidates who are current MCPS parents run for MCPS BoE.
If you know somebody who would be a good candidate, suggest it to them!

Jill Ortman-Fouse (At-large): Past PTA President. She has one student in MCPS high school and one MCPS graduate. [Plugs herconsulting business in her official bio, so Durso's statement that no one on the current Board works doesn't seem accurate.]
“Probably a lot of people don’t have that kind of flexibility where they can be out and about during the workday,” Durso said. Nobody on the current board works according to Durso.

an older article but one that answers the question - https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/montgomery-delegates-propose-salary-boost-for-board-of-education-members/2013/01/02/3799931c-552d-11e2-bf3e-76c0a789346f_story.html?utm_term=.28c9396cb683
The Montgomery County Board of Education could receive salary increases for the first time in more than a decade if Maryland lawmakers approve the raises in the coming legislative session.
A bill proposed by Dels. Charles E. Barkley (D-Montgomery) and Brian J. Feldman (D-Montgomery) would raise the annual salaries by $6,500. The board president’s pay would increase from $22,500 to $29,000, and the pay of other board members would go from $18,500 to $25,000.

WOW! Quite the assumption to make. Amazing that person’s opinion was actually newsworthy.
WMAL could have asked how many candidates aligned with her have been elected to the BoE.
