Go on Expedia and search for rental cars. It'll show you the cheapest offers.

If the line is too long, I can just take the one that I want and drive to the gate and the attendant there will update the record for the car that I've taken and off I'll go. Especially in Orlando, this can save you 45-120 minutes of waiting. I've also found that Hertz' customer service is at least one step above the discount rental companies (Alamo-Budget-Dollar).

If I can't get Hertz, I'll go with Enterprise which is often comparable in price to the discount companies, but treat the customers better. I've used them several times during car repairs and I'm willing to give them my business again.

I will never use the discount rentals again unless they are the only ones to have cars. I've been burned at least a couple of times by each and won't put up with their poor customer service.

We just switched from Budget (I know, I know) to Enterprise and they are SO NICE!!! What a difference to have friendly customer service representatives!

Another vote for National. I was really bummed when my company switched us from National to Hertz. Never a bad experience with National.

Hertz has been a PITA with false charges three different times, to the point where I had to do chargebacks from my corporate card because they wouldn't remove the erroneous charges.

We always rent from the airport. They are a lot cheaper.

I liked avis because they had some connection to USAA at some point.

And how is Easter weekend last-minute? It’s still two months away.

so you've already done the work and figured out that everyone is 2x the price of hertz, which means that price is your qualifier.

just go with the cheapest one you searched.

Hertz is expensive and I'm not sure what more you get for the money.

I use Hetz gold through my company. It’s nice to walk directly to your rental with keys ready to go.

I used to travel 5-6 days/month, and always used National as a first choice. I never got stuck with manual locks or windows with them, as I did with other companies (always when traveling in the south, for some reason). And that was in 2004-2015!
