Discussion of individual identifiable children has never been appropriate on DCUM.

I don’t mind confirming that one of the children whose birth led to DCUM is now headed to college. Time really flies.

Yeah, but those first 2-4 years? Eons. Thank goodness for DCUM - 10-min guilty-pleasure escape from the day-in/day-out routine of 6:30 wakeup, Cheerios, PBS Kids, playground, grocery store, Mac 'n cheese lunch, nap/phone calls during nap, post-nap goldfish, library followed by playground round 2, chicken nuggets dinner, bath, teeth, books, bedtime, grown-up dinner, TV, bed at 10, wash, rinse, repeat. Saturdays and Sundays too. I've been here (well DCUM email) since 2003!

I don't file taxes early and usually submit TAG the end of April and have never had a problem.

File when you can and use the receipt that they give you proving that you filed. I would file as soon as you can because money does tend to run dry around April/May at least during the recession srudents were put on the waiting list. Also file for DC-CAP too if you qualify.

We always filed with the extension and didn’t have any problem.

The extension seems safest but it is doubtful the program will run out of money if your returns are really done by the first or second week of March.

Most people are in the same boat, and plenty of other DC kids wait until they have committed to a specific college in April or May.

I tried to submit my DC Tag documentation today and it was refused because I had my 2016 tax returns instead of my 2017. I haven't filed for 2017 yet and it will probably be at least a month before my accountant can get to it. What do folks normally do about submitting tax returns? It looks like I can file for an extension for 2017 and then submit 2016. That might be my best bet if I want to get things in quickly.
