I went to NYU full-time and basically supported myself through college and law school doing this. I "retired" when I made law review and was too busy to book commercial work and balance school. It's an awful industry, I would never encourage my kids to pursue it, but it did grease my wheels and I had a very good agent who went out of her way to help me stay safe. Other girls weren't so lucky.
I'm a generic middle-aged government attorney with kids living the burbs now. But I have stories, honey!
Are you still really good looking? Sometimes I jokingly ask if my really pretty friends are models. Do your friends ever do that to you, and you say well actually yes!
Ha! No, I would describe myself as someone who can pull herself together, but on a daily basis I look like your typical harried middle-aged woman. I was tall 5'9.5 and tiny. I was also all arms and legs. Like when I sit next to my 4'11 kid we're the same size, but when I stand up, I shoot up. Friends who learn about my past can connect the dots when they see pictures, but it's like another lifetime ago in many ways. I like my life and as strange as it sounds I had more fun taking my kids on a Disney cruise than I did partying, I mean "networking"' on a yacht with a bunch of jerky rich guys. I hated the constant danger I faced during the 6 years I was a working model. I avoided drugs and didn't drink, but I had many close calls with dangerous men.
