^^ 8 rounds OF meds (clomid for 3, clomid & IUI for 3, injectibles & IUI for 2).

We planned to. 1st baby took 8 (various) rounds off meds and 5 IUIs (like your, totally unexplained; guess was endo, which c-section seemed to confirm), so I weaned at 15 months so that my period would come back and then planned to go in claiming we’d been trying to conceive for 6 months as soon as I had 2 normal seeming periods in a row at a normal interval. Instead, I got my period once (not even a normal one; way lighter than usual) and then got pregnant! So don’t give up hope.

I'm 37 and also trying to make the same decision. My AMH was a little low upon my first attempt a few years ago but I got pregnant from my first medicated IUI. I will probably be going back to my RE in the next 2-3 months and asking for the same approach if possible - after all, it worked the first time...

I had an IUI baby on the third try when I was 35. When I was ready to try again (started process when I had just turned 37), I went straight to IVF. My main concern at that point was not having twins. I really, really didn't want twins (felt it would be a marriage and sanity ender in my particular situation) and was willing to put in some more resources ($$) upfront and time to have the best shot possibly of not having twins. I did only single embryo transfers. That definitely made things take longer than they probably would have otherwise, but no regrets although at the time I agonized over whether I was doing the right thing.

We tried for 6 months, and then went to IUI. I had known enough people who were able to conceive on their own after IUI the first time that I thought it was worth trying ourselves.

We also had an unexplained infertility diagnosis. I was 36 when first child was born. I was 38 when we started trying on our own but 39 when second IUI baby was born. In each case, we had to do 3 rounds of IUI with clomid and injectibles. My numbers looked a bit worse when trying for the second kid. I attributed that to age. But I actually got pregnant twice while trying for second kid with IUI. One pregnancy ended with a missed miscarriage around 6 weeks. But the final round of IUI stuck.

...did you jump right to IUI when trying for a second or TTC for bit? I'm 37 so I don't have time to waste and I'm not sure how it works the second time around. My numbers looked great 2 years ago (unexplained infertility) so my plan is to get new day 3 testing and go from there. IVF is out of the question because it is no longer covered by any of our insurance options, so do I go right to IUI? Thanks!
