Maybe he didn't want to go out. Maybe he doesn't like the people you were with. There's many reasons. Just because YOU are in a social mood doesn't mean your spouse is.

OP simply tell your DH, "Honey, I thought we had a deal. You pretend to enjoy spending time with my friends, and I pretend to enjoy having sex with you. Last night you didn't hold up your end of the deal. If it happens again, I'll have to withdraw from my end of the deal."

Are they your friends or his? I used to sulk when I had to go meet with XH's friends. I would bring a book to read.

This is me randomly projecting, but have you told him you were too busy for sex any time recently? I remember having a bad night sort of like that. It was a combination of 1) just having a bad day; 2) having had my wife turn me down for sex recently (and fixating on that); and 3) then seeing my wife make time for, get dressed up for, and put more effort into being nice to these friends.

There were also some changing-seasons-of-life transitions going on -- we were probably late 20s & settling into adulthood.

But, like I said, this is just projection. Could be anything as far as your DH is concerned.

He needs new friends? What has changed? Surely if everybody had a good time except your DH the problem is your DH. Is he having an affair? Is he having a crisis at work? Is he out of shape and embarrassed?

He can’t stand these friends,perhaps.

How often does this happen?

I was annoyed at my husband last night. We took what’s a rare trip into the city for us to meet friends for dinner for restaurant week. We were all laughing and joking and he just sat there not saying anything and being quiet. Literally all night. It was very rude/awkward. At the end he wanted everyone to get more drunk but they all wanted to go home.

He didn’t tell me why he was in a bad mood. Just that he feels he needs new friends. Ugh
