Amazed at all the people going by Mr. and Mrs.!!! I haven't changed my last name and go by Ms. Maiden Name so that wouldn't work anyway. DH and I go by first names and I encourage DCs to call other parents by their first names too.

Kids should ask. I always asked my friends parents what they would like me to call them. Especially when sometimes they prefer Mizz. Dr. or Colonel (Military family) or they have a totally different last name than the kid. Most said their first name was fine. Where I drew the line was calling some one simply Sir or Ma'am. Give me a name because I am not calling you Sir or Ma'am.

You should tell your kids to address the parents as Mr. or Mrs. Lastname and then the parent can feel free to say "Call me Larla" or whatever if that is their preference.

I don't think it is weird to ask, fwiw. I certainly prefer to be known by my first name as well, but not everyone does. If I have not specifically asked, I have told the kids to use Mr./Ms. Lastname.

I don't think it's weird to ask. People I know either go by Mr./Miss first name, Mr./Mrs. Last name, or first name, in order of frequency.

My H and I are laid back too and would be ok being called by first name. I just had this exact conversation with a group of friends and my friend's husband wants to be called [prefix] first name...so either Mr First name, Coach first name (he coaches a sport team that many of our boys are on). My other friend wants to be Ms. first name.

We've found a lot of our younger DD's friends use "Miss First Name or Mr. First Name". Which drives me nuts. We aren't your preschool teachers.

Depends. Some ask the kids to say Mrs. Firstname and others last name. We had always taught mr./mrs. .last name, but many moms prefer the mrs. and first name...so we have allowed it.

Usually Ms Firstname and Mr Lastname or I get a lot of “hi Sally’s Mom! Hey sally’s Mom can I have a snack?”

Mr. and Mrs. No exceptions except for the two very best friends of my husband and me, who go by Uncle So-and-So etc even though we aren't related.

We have a laid back group of friends who our kids know by first name, as is our friends preference. However, no our son has friends from school and as I am getting to know the parents I don't know what our son should call them. Do I ask? Is that weird? I don't care if his friends call me Firstname but I know others may not like that.
