They may also shave you if you tear and require stitches.

My friend who had a c-section mentioned that it was super painful when her hair started growing back and she still had stitches so recommended getting a wax before delivery, which I did. I don't care if its silly.

I went full 70s au naturale when I was pregnant. I have a mole on my vulva that I have to be very careful about trimming around which I couldn't do once I was in the third tri (just couldn't see anything). It was never an issue.

I just used my DH's trimmer to keep it short, and I didn't worry about shaving the bikini line the further along I got. Once I could no longer see that part of my body, I asked DH to use the trimmer on me.

I bought a shaver. I couldn't stand how gross it was when it was long and my dh didn't like it either. I noticed it smelled more too the longer it got.

The only recommendation I read was not to shave with a razor around delivery time because that would open small cuts on your skin that you give you an infection.

I’m a midwife and we don’t care. I laugh at how much I worried about being clean and groomed for my gyn visits before I did this work, because it isn’t something we notice at all.

I'm hoping that isn't as common as you think OP.

I wouldn't worry about it for physician appointments/c-section. However, you might have a little bit of difficulty reaching that area comfortably enough to trim yourself, when you are quite far along--I couldn't see my own crotch because of the belly. just fyi.

If your DH has a beard trimmer, just use that.

I groom with scissors and shave or wax my bikini line before beach vacations. I also used to work at at a GYN office as a medical assistant and have seen many a vagina in my day. Do not worry. Please, keep it clean and not dirty smelly, but do not stress over your pubic hair for even a second. Not all women shave and wax, and definitely not all 9 month pregnant women. Plus, it's better for the integrity of the skin to have hair (more intact skin is stronger), so I personally would avoid shaving near delivery for that reason alone.

OB/GYNs are anti-hair removal, because it invites infection. So I wouldn't worry about it.

If you get a csection, depending on how high up your hair goes, they may shave the area where they will cut. But I don’t think that is a reason to start removing hair if you’re not already doing so.

I also don't wax or trim much. I found that my straightish pubic hair grew very long that it was causing problems, getting caught up in my underwear. So I trimmed it.

I don't think that OBs notice or care. Or if they do, they hide it well.

I'll be honest. I have pubic hair and don't shave or wax. In the summer, if going to be in a swimsuit, I'll do a quick trim to avoid hairs hanging out but that's it. My DH has no issues and prefers natural.

I'm worried about OB GYN visits and giving birth. Will think think it's weird or recommend removal for birth or C section? I know it's natural but not popular these days. I was thinking of at least trimming with the hair trimmers to cut back on length. It's a loose, straighter texture not curly.
