Both destinations look amazing, and of course there’s Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor. We have a train obsessed son, kids are generally super happy with a pool and laid back environment, and we appreciate not being in crowds, so am thinking of just doing Boothbay for the railway village, botanic gardens etc. any suggestions from people who have been to both? Are we missing out if we skip Bar Harbor on our first family trip to Maine?
No big deal. I would do Boothbay and still try to work in trips to Rockport and Camden.

Is if so crowded it is unpleasant?
