It is the location for the "Center City Middle School" that was proposed at some future date, as part of the boundary revision process in 2014.

Considering that enrollment has been in decline for Cardozo's middle school program, and that Brookland Middle is seeing weak enrollment, there is no foreseeable way that there will be enough demand for a new middle school at Shaw in the next 10 years. Which was obvious 5 years ago.

As a Shaw resident, I couldn't agree with you more. But the reality is Cardozo is chronically underenrolled, and I don't see DCPS opening up another MS if that continues to be the case.

As a parent of a current Seaton student, i’d love for it to reopened and provide a solid neighborhood MS option. As a Shaw resident it would be good for it to be something other than an empty building.

the school will probably be sold, and turned into condos.

PP here. I assume you were looking at the posting on the Shaw Dog Park website. Pretty sure that is at least 3-4 years old.

I live in the neighborhood and our neighborhood association receives regular updates from our ANC Commissioner that there is no news. It could be a great resource for the community, whether it becomes a school or not, but it just continues to sit and fall into disrepair. Mt guess is that it will eventually go to developers.

Is anyone privy to the DC gov's plans for Shaw Middle School? I know at some point they announced plans to allot money in their budget to renovate (maybe in 2015?), and I noticed that in the info on feeder patterns for shaw elementary schools, DC states that " Anyone living in the new attendance zone for [Seaton/Ross/Thomson/Cleveland/Garrison] ES is zoned for and has a right to attend Shaw MS (a new stand alone MS)"

The only news I can find is on the website of a dog park, which seems to state that a renovation is imminent.

Any new information out there?
