I'm not sure the school will take it seriously enough. Police aren't going to charge him without evidence but it certainly will make it clear how serious the situation is.

Don't take screenshots of that, and, especially, don't send it to anyone, it's technically child pornography, which is a crime. Talk to your daughter and the boy, someone (them or parents) can get in serious trouble sending naked pictures of the underage people. I am surprised they didn't learn that in school. You can ask some local police officer to give a talk, I know that our police department will gladly do that.

They absolutely 100% need to know. Why would they think you're lying? They need to address this with their son before he sends a picture to someone who's parents would be more than willing to call the police on him. He's lucky you're so level headed about it (based on your tone).

OP here. I don't know him and his parents, don't even know his last name. I think they met through Quiz bowl, she said he is really good at it.

I think if you had taken a screenshot his parents could have made problems for you for having child p0rn.

Without proof who knows if they’ll believe you but you’ve got to try to talk to them. If they don’t believe now they will eventually.

Me again. I have an 11 year old son. He is impulsive and sometimes makes really stupid choices. If this kid were MY SON, I'd want to know, so I can deal with him appropriately. There is a high likelihood this kid has no clue how wrong and aggressive such an action is. He needs to be taught now.

This is good advice. Approach the parents but just ask that he generally back off contact. You don’t need to bring up the nude pic unless they press for details.

Your older child was absolutely right though I don't know what to do now. His parents aren't likely to believe you

My DD is in 8th grade, and so is the boy. A couple of weeks ago, he asked her out, and she said let's remain friends. Today, he texted her about how amazing she is and asked if he can send her a picture. She said sure, and he sent a nude photo of himself via Snapchat. Is there anything we should do about that? My older child said we should have taken a screenshot and sent it to the boy's parents. She didn't take a screenshot, so the photo is gone. Should we just let it go? Upon my advice, she asked the boy to never send anything of that nature to her again.
