Yes, the metro station near Parc Monceau. Having the grocery store and department store nearby was a big help. Also, in the evenings some stalls set up on the street selling baked chickens and potatoes/veggies for take away. Made our dinner a couple nights. That area is not touristy at all, but that also meant it was less expensive than near Parc Lux.

We stayed in St Germain-des-Pres, and LOVED it. I hated my apartment (stinky, moldy), but that area is so fun. Tons of locals, cafes, etc. We went when my kids were the same age and pushed them in a stroller everywhere. Luxembourg gardens has the best playground, pony rides, etc. you will have a great time.

Definitely will! When are you going? I still haven't found a place yet - am trying to go with Airbnb or Homeaway/VRBO but pickins for May are already slim.

We rented an apartment (AirBnB) in the 14th arrondissement near the Mouton-Duvernet Metro station. There is a park, elementary school and lots of bakeries, butchers and shopping near this area. We felt like locals and took the bus most places. The bus allowed us to sightsee and circle-back to places we saw on our way to and from the various tourist attractions.

We staying in the 6th last time we went -- no regrets!

Near Jardin de Luxembourg or the Marais are both solid locations. Would also consider the area near Republique if you will be going to a bunch of different spots because of it's convenience as a Metro hub. Also a cool neighborhood with great cafes and restaurants and people watching at the Canal St-Martin.

We did this and stayed in the St Germaine one. Yes, it is conveniently located, but not ideal imo. Too much traffic, too noisy, too touristy and too easy to miss the charms of the city itself. I would not choose this one again.

We stayed in an apartment in the Marais via the VRBO site. It was cheaper than any hotel, plus we had a kitchen and were able to pick and choose what meals to eat out vs "at home", which was fantastic for when someone was tired or cranky.

You may like the Citadine's. http://www.citadines.com It's an aparthotel. There are quit a few around the city. However, the one in St Germaine and Les Halles are more centrally located.

We took our infant to Paris last summer and stayed in the Marais at Le Roi de Sicile. They are an “aparthotel” and were wonderful. We had a living area and bedroom so we had privacy when our son went to sleep. We had been to Paris in the past so didn’t need to hit wall the major sites, but found this location a good mix of proximity to major sites and a neighborhood feel. They provided a pack and play for our son.

We will be spending a long weekend (3-4 nights) in Paris this summer on our way to a vacation in the countryside. We'll be there with our kids who will be 6 and 3.5. Does anybody have any recommendations for neighborhoods for apartment rentals or even any specific apartment recommendations?

We'd also love to hear recommendations of what you'd do if you had 2-3 days to explore We'll want to do a bit of wandering around and sightseeing, but probably won't be doing any intensive museum visits and are willing to skip things that will be less fun with the little kids (i.e., we'll be happy to picnic at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower, but won't spend the time waiting to go up to the top).
