I don't understand this. Is it calories in/calories out or not. We can't have it both ways.

Also, I didn't mean I do all those things every day. I do one or two of them. For example, walk in the morning and zumba in the evening...

I'm 5'2" and weigh 145. Last year I weighed 135 and was hoping to lose 10 pounds, so I'd say I'm 15-20 #'s overweight although I look pretty slim. I've hit menopause and have gotten a soft belly, gained in my breasts and butt.

I skip breakfast. Eat a protein-ful lunch at 12, have a small afternoon snack and a small-ish dinner around 8 pm. I've been swimming, doing Zumba, lifting weights, walking and doing yoga every day. I feel great! But my body is still holding on to these 15 extra pounds. I still look soft. Seriously! What's going on?

Are you overweight to start?

I have to agree. I’ve been down the road of lifting a lot and lying to myself that it must be muscle weight. you must diligently and honestly weigh each morsel of food that goes in your mouth. Accurately. Period.

" In a two-year study of 162 overweight and obese gym members, those asked to weigh themselves daily and chart the results were more likely to lose significant weight and then keep it off."

This suggests that it's motivating to weigh often.

Not if you're excising, lift weights, and are active. It's a completely different game.

It's common to gain weight at the start of an exercise program.

Stop focusing on the scale. Focus on how you feel and how your clothes are fitting. At the very least, don't weight yourself more than once a month - two weeks at the MAX.

FWIW, the scale went up 5 lbs for me when I started strength training regularly. And my waist went down 1.5 inches. So... it's just not a great indicator.

I've been intermittent fasting and lowering calories. Also working out a lot. I've gained 3 pounds. How is this possible?
