We've been everywhere in Florida but the Keys. Are y'all saying it's not worth the trip?

I remember being an 11 year old going to Key West and being terribly disappointed because of the beaches. I loved Key Largo, but this was 1985 so I wouldn’t weigh my rec too seriously.

Key West is an adult destination. The beaches are crap so all there is to do is eat, drink, and get naked.

I think there are way better places in Florida with kids. I would check out Siesta Key, Lido Key, Ft Myers Beach or just stay in Miami.

We loved Key Largo. There is a state park where you can snorkle and take snorkeling boats. We rented a house on the water that had a pool and tons of toys- fishing gear, nets, paddling boards, kayaks......... We took a day trip to Key West. We went to one of the big hotels for the day and used their beach and rented other types of boats (Hilton or Hyatt??).

Plenty of restaurants and a nearby grocery store.

I really liked Key West but agree that it doesn't have good beaches. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

The choices are a bit overwhelming. I'm leaning towards Key West since that is where the action is.

Suggestions?
