I dunno...I can put away bags of apples very easily. Same with grapes. Pineapple. You may not get fat on them but if you eat a lot of them (and it's easy!), you won't lose as much.

Like, you can eat 5 apples in one sitting? That's fairly unusual. But yes, if you constantly binge on fruit, you may have to adapt. My guess is there are very few people who actually binge on fruit.

This! People aren't fat or unhealthy because they eat too many healthily prepared fruits and veggies and yes, this includes starchy veggies and bananas.

The way I decide how healthy a food is it how much of it i can eat. Pretty hard to binge on a baked potato or bananas. Not potatoes in the form of French fries are another story.

Agree. But damn, I do love me some fried potato product.

I thought peas were starchy?

People are nuts. Veggies are good for you as is fruit. Period.

I eat any vegetable I like, prepared healthfully. That means raw, steamed, roasted, stir fried, sautéed or grilled with reasonable amounts of fat. Deep fried vegetables are an occasional treat.

All vegetables and all fruits are healthy, depending on how you prepare them. Yes, even potatoes. Baked with a little olive oil and sprinkle of salt? Completely fine and healthy.

#ALLVEGETABLESMATTER

just kidding, but not really. I consider potatoes a starch and substitute them in for grains (bread, pasta) instead of veggies. Same with sweet potatoes. I look at cauliflower pretty much the same way, but there's a gray area there. I don't eat celery because I dislike the flavor and they're so much water that I don't think I'm missing much by not eating them.

I'm an omnivore for whom a typical meal is 3-4 ounces of a lean meat, a serving (or 1.5 servings depending on my workout the next day) of grains/potatoes and a vegetable or two. I do lots of broccoli, tomatoes, asparagus, romaine, spinach, legumes because they're easy things to nuke or steam and throw on a plate.

Squash and potatoes are healthy too. But potatoes aren't healthy fried (french fries), they're better baked or roasted. Same with sweet potatoes, or any vegetable, really.

Potatoes are starch.
Cucumbers are water but it’s still good for you. Broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, lettuces, peppers, radishes, kale, green beans, asparagus, beets, etc. sweet potatoes are actually very good for you. Fennel, okra, onions, cauliflower, zucchini.

It seems like every veggie gets written off as not really a veggie. E.g., squash's are really carbs, cucumbers are just water, potatos are worthless etc. Is it really just greens, carrots, and peppers that count?!
