Subject: Habit or an addiction of exercise?
Unless it's wearing down your body and putting you at risk for injury, or interfering in your other life/daily obligations, an exercise habit or "addiction" is perfectly fine as much as you want.

I work out nearly every day and it's a habit, not an addiction. I can miss a day (and do if I have a good reason), but I really enjoy being active every day. My job is pretty sedentary, so that one hour of activity is great for stress relief/release.
A fitness habit is a good thing to have.

You walk 45 minutes every other day? No, not an addiction. This is a habit.
I sleep every night. I eat breakfast every day. I check my work email nightly. Not an addiction. Habits.

If you've only been doing this for two weeks, it ain't even a habit yet, my friend.

OP, do you have a new job? Sounds to me like your issues are employment and friends
Why not start to find exercise friends--hiking, meet ups, take classes at a gym etc?
and work on that job/networking if you don't have a new one.
I applaud subsituting exercise for unhealthy habits (fast food). Keep it up.

You’re not an addict. You are attention-seeking. I would work on that.

Sounds like you don’t know the difference between a habit and an addiction.
A habit is something you do on a regular basis.
EX: As a habit, I plug in my charging cable to my phone just before I go to bed.
An addiction is a behavior that you engage in on a regular basis AND will do so even at the cost of your own health, personal relationships and financial well-being.
EX: I am addicted to shopping and have blown through my savings account to pay for purchases I don’t need.

Exercise, in the way you are describing, is a healthy habits. It can help with depression, anxiety etc that might otherwise push us to make less healthy choices. Addiction is when you do it at all costs, despite injury, multiple hours a day and feel gross/disgusting/anxious if you miss a workout. I had one friend like this, worked out twice a day with a minimum of 90 min of cardio, was always at the gym or working. Bone thin. Sadly she has a progressive neurodegenerative disease now and can't walk w/ assistance.
I think most people who exercise regularly need it/ feel much better when they are active, only a few fall into the latter category.

If it is, it’s not a bad addiction and you’re not doing it remotely close to the level that it’s interfering with personal relationships, etc.

Huh? What a weird question.
It’s a good habit and stop the self-sabotage.

2 weeks isn't any addition. Chill out and keep walking.

Subject: Habit or an addiction of exercise?
After two weeks of walking for 45 minutes every other day and working out with weights 3 x weekly, I am now in the habit of doing this. I stopped exercising and was eating lunch out fast-food mostly because I was fired from my job in October. I was depressed without realizing it. I was earing lunch out because I was in denial and I felt lonely sitting at home. Then my clothes were fitting too tightly so I am back to exercising and eating at home again. I am finding other social activities besides eating lunch out.
Is this a habit or an addiction? Did I just replace one addiction with another? Thank you.
