Subject: How much tuna can I safely eat?
I was a vegetarian for years that only ate fish (pescatarean - if I could spell it) and had my mercury tested. I ate tuna or salmon every day. My doc said he has only ever seen one case of high mercury and it was due to direct exposure. Mine was normal - I think you are fine.

The chunk white has lower mercury than the solid white albacore.

Oh and chunk light has less mercury than albacore. The bigger and older the fish the more mercury it has. My ob said salmon was almost always ok since they fish it out so quickly it doesn’t get a chance to grow large and absorb the mercury.

Can you mix it up with canned salmon and chicken?

I haven't been able to find the answer to your question, but have looked for it because my son loves tuna and would eat it everyday for lunch. We were concerned about the mercury, so we started using canned chicked sometimes as a close substitute.

I'm a mostly vegetarian who will sometimes eat fish. I struggle with getting enough protein, especially for lunch. I don't mind tuna salad. I use a can of solid white Albacore mixed with a little mayo and chopped pickles. I eat it with celery sticks.
How many times a week can I safely eat this? I Googled it but didn't find any kind of consensus.
