Maybe Omega 3- I have a body wash that smells like fish because it has Omega 3- which is fish oil or some algae by-product.

I have a sensitive, picky nose and have never smelled this. Do you mean fishy like silk fabric? Or ammonia?

Are you smelling it directly on the products (maybe ingredients are old or it is the type of plastic used in packaging?)

Or are you smelling it on you after use (interaction with your body chemistry).

Oh, I posted on another thread by mistake. It could be lecithin. That's an ingredient our bodies turn into the chemical that smells fishy. Does your conditioner have lecithin in it?

If you are using a coconut oil based product, it may be rancid.

I do. I throw them out but wonder what the commonality is. I know there are others with bloodhound noses like mine on here so I was wondering.

Oh that is a good question. It smells more like chemical fish than food fish if that even makes sense. But I am smelling it with the (nice) scent of the product. It's like an after whiff of unpleasant.

OK this is not even an issue but I have been wondering for a while, and where else do I get a confluence of women, scientists and people with bloodhound noses to figure this out. Several times, leave in conditioners or other conditioning hair products have a faint fishy after-smell. Has anyone else noticed this? I hate the smell of fish and I can pick it out anywhere. Sometimes I just get the grossest whiff of fish odor from these. The products are not old or expired. Is there a common ingredient that does this? Am I just super sensitive? Am I the only one!?
