We had a great short trip to Atlanta for spring break last year with 5 and 8 year olds. World of Coke, Center for Civil and Human Rights, College Football Hall of Fame, amazing aquarium (bigger than the one in Baltimore), Olympic park, and weather warm enough for swimming in the outdoor (heated) pool at the hotel.

Most of the people who know of a fun affordable place to travel during a popular time of year don’t want the word to get out. The place we go to Spring Break most years is not crowded - and we always joke with the other vacationers what a great secret we’ve unearthed.

Really? Do tell. I’ve looked into it but didn’t find much for the 4-7 age group.

Children's Museum, Olympic Park Playground, Zoo, and the amazing Aquarium

I really don’t like traveling to a city and doing the usual circuit of children’s museum, urban park/playground. Zoo and aquarium. Most cities don’t have very interesting children’s museums/zoos etc. what’s unique to Atlanta?

Everywhere can't be a hell hole. We went in October for a 3 night trip and had a great time.

We did this trip over Presidents Day and just loved it.

Itinerary?

Day 1: Fly into Miami and headed straight to the beach.

Day 2: drive down to Key Largo (approx 1 hour). Snorkel, glass bottom boat, sea kayak etc. On the way back, we stopped at a southern Everglades trail (Anhinga Trail) close to sunset. Amazing. Also, Robert’s fruit stand is close to entrance.

Day 3: Everglades Park: did the bike/tram route (we biked; they have kids bikes). Go in the morning, gets crowded. In the afternoon, we did the requisite air boat tour.

Day 4: Miami - Miami museum of art - small museum that was accessible for our kids (3 and 6). Then, hit the beach.

If you had a week, you would space this out and spend more time at the beach. We jammed it all in over Presidents Day.

We tend not to travel over spring break bc of crowds and high airfare however what are some good locations that are not insanely crowded? Kids are currently 7 and 8 - we are pretty active and enjoy warm weather.
