Wow, your NYE party must be a real bore, 21:49.

Anyway you didn't read the original post. Of course Nassau County is filled with "NYC transplants." It's a generation or two removed from old time Brooklyn and Queens. The post is about transplants to the NYC metropolitan area from other parts of the country.

Yep. I don't know if it's still the case since I moved out of NY, but in Garden City they used to not sell real estate to black people or jewish people.

Meh, it is kind of insular. People from outside the NY area generally don't choose to move there.

Anyway, forget the joker at 21:49.

My guess is being an island with worse access to other parts of the BosWash corridor plays a role. That and it being largely postwar era white flight tract housing.

None tonight. I'm going out to a party right now-here in insular Long Island.

It's an island. It's hard to get anywhere. Travelling anywhere on the east coast means fighting through NYC traffic.

My aunt and uncle live on LI. Took them 3 hrs to get home from my cousins house in suburban NJ a few days after Christmas. I can get to my cousins house in 4 hrs from NoVA. Westchester, Rockland, NJ and CT are just easier places to get to and from.

The post was about the SUBURBS.

LI = Nassau/Suffolk.

Transplants to the NYC area that move to the suburbs prefer Westchester, Connecticut and New Jersey over Long Island. What makes LI so insular and unappealing to transplants?
