+1. Catonsville PP here. I love Baltimore...LOVE it. But if you have $500k for a house then save yourself the private school tuition and find a nice house in the Ellicott City/Columbia/Catonsville area.
Commute is still horrid in Catsonville and Columbia. Well over an hour each way. No reason for OP to not live in dc suburbs.
