We went in late June 2017, and it was super hot and uncomfortable for several days. Apparently there was a heat wave, with temps in the 90s across Europe. Perhaps a fluke, since we've been before in July and had comfortable temps (although that was almost a decade ago--I worry with climate change, things are getting hotter sooner in the summer?). Either way, I'd want to go as early as possible in the summer.

We went in the last week of August 2014 and had a amazing time. Nice weather, nothing obviously closed, crowds not too bad. My friend went the following year in
July and it was 100 degrees and packed.

Have so much fun whenever you go!

Parisian here. As early as possibly within your available window!

Summer is when construction happens in Paris. Lots of dust, people are grumpy because they're too warm. It's not really hot compared to here, but they don't know that!

If you can change your plans, Spring is so much better. You can buy a baguette sandwich and stroll down the Seine banks amid chestnut blooms... except me. I'm allergic to chestnut trees

Hot hot hot. Humid and no a/c.

Will never return in summer.

Don't go to Paris in August.

Bastille Day (14 July) is a fun day to be in Paris.

July.
No matter what anyone says, France is a very traditional country and the tradition is to close everything and head south for August.

Some restaurants and shops will be closed in August. It can be hot (or not) in either month so be prepared/flexible. The carnival in the Tuileries will run through the first 2 or 3 weeks of August probably.

Is it better to visit Paris during July or August in regards to weather, crowds, closures, etc.? Or does it really matter? I know there are better times of the year to visit Paris. However, those are the only two months that my family is able to go.
