THIS! Print it out and read it verbatim (except the part about Larloshi, which made me burst out laughing.) AND I would not have any problem going into the guest room and waking Larloshi Jr up and kicking him out of bed so that dishes can be taken out. There is no way in hell I would allow some spoiled 20-something to hold my guest room hostage.

OP here...I've already asked and they said he starts school mid-January. I go back to work starting this Thursday but I know they are the kind to just stay here while we are at work.

I wanted to and asked before the trip and they said they will determine this once they got here. When my cousin's wife was here last time without her son she was very nice and had booked the return trip before coming over. This time both she and her son seem off.

He is not in this country and he knows about the situation but he is very passive.

Where is your cousin? Have you talked to him? I would start there and express concern about his son. This sounds like a tough situation all around, sorry you find yourself in the middle of it.

You need to tell the wife your house rules. "Larloshi, in this house we do not leave food in the bedrooms. Please take all the dishes out of the guest room and bring them in the kitchen. Also, although it's been lovely having a visit with you, we need to get back to our normal routine, so our last day together will have to be Wednesday. It's been so great spending time with you."

My cousin's wife and son wanted to visit over the holidays. They are not from this country but his son has been here for a couple of years for school. They booked a one way ticket and have not told us when they are leaving. The son seems either depressed or majorly spoiled. He refuses to come out of his room and has slept all day for two days straight. He threw a tantrum when his mom tried waking him up because other relatives are here to pick them up to take them sightseeing. The other relatives ended up leaving without them because he wouldn't come down after they waited for 30 minutes. He won't come down for meals so his mom takes his food to him and leaves it in his room for when he feels like eating. His dirty plates have been in the room all day and night. I just want them to leave at this point but is there a way to politely do this?
