You might want to keep an eye out for ADHD. Executive function issues show up in that way for smart kids, with significantly better tests scores than grades.


That must be a big load off for you - it is always nice to see external validation of what we know about our child. As he matures (and maybe with some guidance), he'll probably do a better job at the day-to-day.

My 9th grader got 1330 on PSATs. His grades have been mediocre since 7th grade. Dipping down to D's frequently, then struggling to end with mostly Bs. He is a very curious and clever child, just not a great student. Hopefully, good testing will balance out the ok grades.
