OP here - I was very very upset when I found out he wasn't coming. I could not cope and freaked out, told him not to come at all, etc. I pushed him to break up with me if I'm being honest. More honesty: he's blocked me on pretty much every channel, so it's not like I think he's totally open to seeing me. We just haven't seen each other in so long that I hope he'll be reminded why he loves me.

We met in DC, online. We dated happily for 4 months. For reasons in my personal life I had to leave and move here, temporarily but indefinitely. I am 28. We decided to stay together.

He could be lying about the pneumonia, but I doubt it. He was sick for days before coming but thought it was just a cold and he was on the mend. The day before he was feeling somewhat better and everything was to go as planned but I woke up while he was supposed to be on his early flight to dozens of calls and texts of him saying he couldn't get on the plane and had gone to urgent care and had pneumonia.

It hasn't been very long since we broke up. He broke up with me because the long distance was too painful and I was not handling it well. He got sick before a scheduled visit about 10 days ago - with pneumonia, so he really couldn't fly - and we were looking forward to that trip and holding on to it that losing it made us both feel hopeless. So a day later he ended it cold turkey, no contact. I understand completely why he did it but ultimately it was one-sided and I'd rather to be with him.

Why not? That's exactly how I feel. The huge risk of more pain is worth the small chance that he will be receptive. And I'm already in so much pain, what's a little more? Even if we don't get back together, I want him to break up with me in person.

I know it's crazy to literally show up at his doorstep.

I don't do impulsive crazy things like this. But I will regret it forever if I don't try.
