Yup, I actually just applied to LAMB this morning. This will give additional options. I'm going to also apply to Bethune if my tour with them goes well.

I also urge you to apply to LAMB...especially if you are interested in language. As another poster said, you will not need to use any of your 12 slots to apply to LAMB. Additionally, the Montessori component is an added bonus.

If you are a few blocks from DCB you are also just a few blocks from Bridges. Not a language school like you are looking for, but it is very diverse. We are there for PK3 this year. My kid is really doing great and we love it! We had listed it as a back-up at #9 or so and got in from the wait list over the summer. Good luck!

I would try for Sela, it's a very diverse, tier 1 school, not too far from you.

DCB is fairly diverse but there may be a lower number of African American students than elsewhere due to the Spanish immersion. You can see the demographic breakdowns of schools easily on MySchool DC. Most charters are fairly diverse (though not always representative of the city's breakdown especially on SES).

Another important point is that Bethune in Brookland (near to you) does a separate lottery on their website, so they don't take from your list of 12. They also accept almost all of their waitlist. They are not however very high performing.

Burroughs is getting some good reviews on the Brookland Kids list lately. No personal experience but seems worth a look.

Since you seem to like bilingual schools and you said your in-bound will be Lasalle-Backus, DC Bilingual seems to be a good fit. It’s also worth considering LAMB. It takes about three minutes to fill out the application and doesn’t use one of your twelve spots.

Definitely put Mundo and Yu Ying. They both have more students in PK4 than PK3 and they have to come from somewhere. I know kids who got into both for PK4. For Stokes, don't get your hopes up-- it's a smaller school with low attrition. If you would be equally as happy with Mundo, then I can't see using two spots for something as unlikely as Stokes.

Ok - as we just told you on your other thread, it depends on your master number.

If you get a great one, you will get into one of them. If your number is lousy, you won't.

Stokes is opening a new campus in ward 7 or 8 next fall; there will be more PK4 seats available there than any of the others. If you are willing to go to that campus (wherever it is) you may get lucky. You can also enter for Stokes potentially 4 times (1 each for French and Spanish at Brookland and 1 each for French and Spanish at the new "East End" campus).

Can any parents give me information about these three schools and the probability of getting into one of them? This lottery process is super stressful.

I'm moving into DC in March from PG County so I'm learning about the lottery system. These three schools are my top three choices for my daughter who will be in prek-4 in Sept., but these schools also seem extremely difficult to get into. I'm wondering if it's even worth me adding them to my lottery. I don't want to waste one of my choices on a school that is dam near impossible to get her into. Advice?
