We have the Cruz and have checked it a lot without problems. I put a department store suit bag over the seat part - it fits well as long as you fold the footrest.

We also have a Chicco umbrella stroller for shorter trips or all trip now that our son is bigger. It was $100 (open box on Amazon) and works great.

Recently though I've seen a lot of these micro strollers for travel that I wish I knew about before... Here's one :

See if Nuna makes a bag for the Mixx. I know it's a specialty stroller, so I wouldn't use a generic bag. We have another Nuna product (Sena), but their company strikes me as one that tries to take care of its customers. This is why I chose Uppababy strollers...they sell (expensive) bags tailor-made for the strollers and will replace your stroller free of charge if it's damaged while using their bag.

I have gate checked our Stokke without a problem. Used the stroller bag for it. Loved having it at the destination. I recommend getting a bag and taking the good stroller

If you are worried, check what your insurance covers. Anything on the cc you used to buy the ticket?

Don't bring an expensive stroller on a plane. Don't know that stroller, but if baby is still in baby seat, get a cheap car seat carrier. The names escape me now, but it's a shell for the baby car seat.

OP does Nuna make a stroller bag for that model? I have a bugaboo donkey and it has a stroller bag- essentially a piece of luggage. This is the only way to ensure it will be protected. Maybe you can shop around and see if there is a generic model that may accommodate that stroller. Otherwise you just have to check it and hope for the best.

If it’s going to bother you a lot if something happens, I wouldn’t take it. The airline will not pay to repair or replace it.

So far, i've only checked our snap n go and infant car seat. I bought a used set just for trips. It's gotten beat up but not badly damaged. There are scratches, torn fabric, stains...but nothing broken.

We gate checked strollers many times back in the day and never had a problem. Then again, back in the day (my kids are teenagers and older), people didn't buy $800 strollers!

I travel every 6 weeks or so with our 2 year old. I bring our City Mini. Gate Check it and it's never been damaged. I don't put it in a bag or anything.

We have flown SW a dozen times and yes, on this last flight (Thanksgiving) our stroller came back damaged. Primary bar in the structure was snapped.

Get a big duffle bag and wrap it in a blanket or extra clothing.

We travel frequently (internationally), and ours was always gate checked and returned in the same condition. We have the city select. Never have any issues with damage.

New mom, so apologies in advance for the novice question.

We have the NunaMixx2 stroller and are going on a trip, flying Southwest. Yes, we need the stroller on the trip, a carrier is not an option. It has been suggested to us to just get an umbrella stroller or borrow someone else's cheap/beat up stroller so not having to worry about getting damages to our pricier one.

Can you please tell me your experience checking your stroller at the gate right before boarding and the condition it was returned to you in....?
