A plethora of college students on spring break getting drunk.

Which beaches allow conspicuous daytime alcohol consumption? Am I being naiive?

Idk, I think avoid Panama City.

Really, nowhere in Florida is truly warm enough for enjoyable swimming in March. Water temps even in the Keys are in the high 60's to low 70's at best. That might be fine if you grew up swimming in Cape Cod or Oregon or Northern CA, but most people aren't gonna want to spend any time in 68 degree water.

You need to get south of Cuba for truly warm water in late winter.

Depending on when your spring break is, you are rolling the dice with the weather. Further south you go the better, I don't like the Keys but that may be your best bed.

Further North
St. Regis Bal Harbour is great for families and kids. And I also love Siesta Key.

Sanibel down to Marco Island is very family friendly and the Gulf is a lot calmer than the Atlantic. No spring breakers are around. If you want a lot of good restaurants try Naples.

Daytona isn't really family-friendly. There's the huge area where you can drive on the beach, for one thing. The surroundings just aren't as nice.

I second Siesta Key. Just north of that, Lido's sand is ALMOST as nice, and it's not nearly as crowded.

Also in the Sarasota area, you can do a mangrove kayak tour, see manatees.

Sanibel and Marco Islands are always super family friendly. We really like Boca Grande as well. It’s a little more remote.
