I don't understand the question. His money is my money so OUR money. I'd be pissed he didn't keep an eye on his wallet.

I wouldn't be worried, because I work and have my own money (liquid cash and investments). I've supported us before, and I can do it again. My profession is in high-demand and I could easily make more if I change my schedule/hours (healthcare).

I'd actually be relieved, because it would give us a good reason to leave DC and move to a much more laid-back, lower COL area (which I've been trying to do for 4+ years now).

If his business went belly up? No big deal to me. We pretty much live off my income/benefits at this point and bank his. We'd be fine, and no I wouldn't ditch him. I would probably encourage him to try to curtail his spending.

It's a very different question if he is secretly a junkie or gambler or something, I suppose. But I have a pretty good idea where our money goes.

Given that it's "our" money, I wouldn't worry. He doesn't have much money that's just "his" other than his retirement account which has about the same amount that I have in mine. I also was the sole bread winner at one point, so this doesn't worry me all that much either, as long as he can be a great sahd.

My wife is working towards this as we speak, in the spirit of decorating for the holidays.

Fine with me, I've always been the high earner and my family is much wealthier.

Now if he lost our investments because of some dumbhead move that would be another thing, but that's not likely because I manage our money.

DH has been laid off 3 times during our relationship. Its the risk he runs for being in the profession he loves. I love him and he is a fabulous man. That has zero to do with his money. So he doesn't ever lose his money - together we lose part of our income when one of our job situations changes. And we deal. Together.

What money? It's not like he has a trust now.

If he lost his job he'd get another one, and we'd live on my income.

If his retirement investments tanked I'm sure mine would have too since neither of us is in startups.

We'd live on my money/salary and he'd figure something out or we would adjust as a family.

I wouldn't leave him. He'd have to stop buying records, though.

Lost how? Gambling addiction? Alcohol/drugs? Gave to his family?

I would probably stick around for alcohol/drug addiction and give him another chance. Not for the other reasons.

No problem, he'll just earn it back.

If he lost his ambition/drive? We'd have problems.
