Depends on your family. I don't generally think there's anything wrong with it and I have suggested it and DH usually ends up coming with us because he'd miss us (mainly he'd miss DS). DS likes us to be together as a family, today I mentioned the two of us doing something and he said, "why doesn't Daddy like to do stuff with us?" So I'd do it if it made sense, but I'd have to message it carefully and watch the dynamic.

I have and its glorious. I used to go to Vieques every year to just read books and lay about on a beach with no one touching me or wanting something it's a nice reset.

I do it all the time. Dh's job is often inflexible, so I often take the kids to go visit friends and family on my own.

absolutely and I think it would be a lot of fun. I find it so much easier to spend time with my kids when my husband isn't around because I get to call all the shot and do everything i want to do.

A vacation with the husband but with the kids?

Sounds like heaven. My husband can't tolerate changes to his routine and often goes berserk on vacation. If only I had such an excuse!

We do try not to talk on-and-on excessively about all the details of the great trip ... not too much in front of the person who wasn't able to go.

I know my DH would be thrilled. I haven't vacationed with my DD, but have taken her to visit family by myself.

i'm thinking of taking one week off from work this summer because I won't be able to arrange a camp for my preschool aged daughter that week. DH cannot take off that work that week. We could do a staycation but I am considering taking the kids on a trip by myself. Does anyone else do that?

I haven't discussed this in great detail with my spouse yet but I think his feelings are neutral on the topic.
