Wow....I can only wish. I have two at Deal in DC and homework every night. Nothing too onerous most of the time but there definitely is budgeting and planning of time to get the big projects done on top of the daily homework.

Um..excuse me, not having a ton of homework does not mean that a child won't be successful. I hardly had any homework in middle and high school and got mostly A's, went to a good college and now have successful career. No need to be snarky. Let kids be kids for goodness sakes.

And some wonder why the Chinese are taking over the world.

My 6th grader at Williamsburg has pretty regular homework in American Studies and Math. She is able to get some of it completed in school due to block scheduling extra time. She has very regular tests in her 4 core classes so I feel like we are constantly studying for those rather than doing busy work homework. She has had 4 tests in the last 3 days with another one this Friday.

APS? That’s not common in APS.

My 6th grader always tell me he has none as well. He got straight As on his report card. So-he must not be lying.

I love that he has none. There was too much in elementary school.

My DD has 2-3 hours a night. It is crazy. That said, if she wasn't dealing with severe ADHD she might be able to knock it out in half the time!

Be thankful. No kid in middle school should have hours of homework. I never did.

I switched my son to private school in 6th grade and he went from maybe 30 minutes of HW to 2-3 hrs. Not fun but it was easy to transition to HS since he was already used to it.

Enjoy it while it lasts. 6th is time of emotional change and growth and a breather for homework.

Same with both of our kids (W middle school). They completed their homework in class, or during the free period at the end of the day. Rarely anything but an occasional ditto sheet in foreign language or math.

Big change in high school...
