my opinion -- and i apologize it's harsh -- you can't improve egg quality. 41 yo eggs are 41 yo and nothing is going to change that. i would move straight to IVF. i got pregnant twice at that age and miscarried both times. went to IVF and all failed. some people will say try natural IVF or keep on with the supplements, but to me, that's wasting time.

eventually moved on to DE and it worked on the second try.

Personally, I would run not walk to IVF with PGD. I had 4 miscarriages on the way to having number two at 37 (after first one was no problem). It can be hard to find the good egg in there (I had high FSH), and every failed attempt meant my body and eggs were getting older as I waited to try again. Thanks goodness for PGD. Also, I didn't have the greatest results during IVF -- a "healthy" friend was doing it the same time as me and I was so jealous of her numbers -- 20 eggs, 14 fertilized, etc, when I had a measly single digit number. But my not so-good looking embryos that survived PGD turned into one absolutely amazing kid. Best of luck everybody.

OP, what is your ethnicity? I ask this because ethnicity sometimes plays a major role in the reproductive (especially for IVF) outcome. For instance, Caucasian has far better outcome (take home live baby) than than East Asian. I am east Asian and had a success on 1st try IVF at age 37 but has been struggling with 2ndary and I am already 40+. I would not waste your time/age.

NP here. Honestly, what kind of question is that? If someone wants 3, 5, 0r 10 kids it's their prerogative. We are here to support each other. Those desperately trying to have even one (like me) or those wanting 3 or whatever the number should receive the same support.

Why do you need #3 so badly? What if there are major medical issues with the child? I wouldn't risk it.

At your age, I would proceed straight to IVF.

I did IVG with PGD after two miscarriages and it worked. I was 38 when it worked.

At 41, I wouldn't keep trying on my own. Really, after 35, I wouldn't try on my own for longer than 6 months.

Personal preference, but I would most likely not do IVF for a 3rd child. Yes for a 1st or 2nd. However, if money isn't a huge concern (ie: you can part with $25k and not hurt yourselves long term) I'd just move to IVF. Waiting at 41 isn't wise. Unless you are ok with not having the 3rd.

I agree with PP, you might want to get in the "system" because it takes a while for the IVF process..... a lot of preliminary stuff. I have a couple friends who did get pregnant during this time.

Also, maybe try acupuncture? I know it's kind of an unknown crapshoot, but I do believe it helped me.

The process to onboard with IVF is not particularly quick depending on practice and how much testing you already have. That's already a few months right there. For some of this time you can still keep trying.

Following. I'm 38, have two kids (with no assistance), and have been trying for #3 for two years. Have done three rounds of timed intercourse with Femara/Ovidrel, and also have no "issues." Wasn't sure I wanted to do IVF, but would love to hear others' experiences as well.

I’m 41. Been ttc for #3 for a year. Had two mmc, tested the second and it was a chromosomal abnormality. Saw RE and got tested. Everything looks good, so RE believes it’s an egg quality issue. Recommends IVF with PGD. I’m struggling with whether we should move on to IVF or perhaps try a few more months on our own. I’ve been taking several supplements for the past 3 months to improve egg quality. Anyone BTDT?
