I travel a decent amount for work, and it seems like he couldn't care less when I'm gone. I came home last night, after a long flight and just weary, and when he climbed into bed he stroked my face and said he was glad I was back. I was so shocked. But it made me really happy.

I have PTSD from childhood sexual abuse and a sexual assault by a college friend’s boyfriend. The past few weeks, the news and water cooler talk at work have been bad for me. DH has just been very protective and patient.

DH has started WAH full time and his whole demeanor has changed. This morning DS came downstairs sleepily and DH was already downstairs fixing his breakfast and when he saw him on the stairs he picked him up in a giant bear hug and carried him all the way to his chair. DS just melted into DH. This would not have happened a few months ago because DH would have been too focused on getting out the door to go to work.

My 20 mo has suddenly developed a fear of taking a bath. So DH will climb in with him. And last night, he worked on getting DS over having water on his face (rinsing his hair) by dumping water on his own face over and over and over and over. Until DS was brave enough to try having water on his face. Did it 3 times in a row.

My heart just melted watching DH work with DS.

Deposits his paycheck into the bank account weekly.

He holds my hand in the parking lot until we get to the store door when we go shopping. He opens the car door for me. He buys things to make my life better and easier. He loves to cook. He has no problem doing housework without me asking. He trusts me and I trust him. He still makes me laugh hysterically.

He FaceTimes with our son to help him with his math hw when he’s on a business trip (like last night). He’s a really really good dad.

Met my DH for coffee at his office Starbucks recently. There he was surrounded by all the other assh*le finance types. And the vultures circling in stilettos. Got the butterflies again 10 years later. Sad but true!

Interested in any recent anecdotes about your DH that remind you of why you married him. I'll start.

We recently traveled for a quick weekend getaway to California to celebrate our anniversary. Prior to the trip we'd been fighting for a week about DH's inability to communicate and I had considered canceling the trip or going by myself. Regardless, we hopped on a plane early on Saturday morning and settled in for a 4-5 hour flight. We were seated at the window and middle seat next to a sweet old lady. As soon as the flight attendants came around offering drinks DH ordered a Bloody Mary and the sweet old lady (seated next to me) commented that she didn't realize Bloody Mary's were available. She looked over the drink menu and then commented to me that although she wanted one she probably shouldn't have one because her daughter was picking her up and would give her a hard time about it. Meanwhile, DH had asked the flight attendant for an extra cup, proceeded to prepare and split his Bloody Mary into two cups (he was a bartender back in the day) and gave the second drink to the old lady! She was so thrilled and grateful. I was sitting back watching the interaction and just thinking about how, in the midst of all my irritation with him, I'd forgotten what a generous, thoughtful person he actually is. It was such a simple gesture for a complete stranger and reminded me of one of the main reasons I've always been so enamored by him.
