We live nearby, but a few blocks away. Love the area (our second house in the area as a matter of fact).

Talk to neighbors on the immediate street/block of the house you desire to get their sense. There is medivac activity as some pps mentioned, and that can be loud. With regard to emergency vehicles nearby (I don't recall them racing through the neighborhood) or on Old Georgetown Rd., I don't feel that's a big deal but rather a blessing to be so close by to 911 services when needed. The B-CC rescue squad, fire trucks and police have appeared, IMO, quite fast when needed.

We get much more helicopters in the general area. It's not just the hospital.

I've lived close to a hospital and barely noticed the sirens after a month or so. I know the area and it's lovely - the one thing I'd check is to see what happens to the traffic patterns - if anything - when an emergency comes in by the road or by air. Also, isn't there a fire station right down the street? Another consideration. We live in a community with a fire house very close to a main, 4-way light near the entrance. It's AMAZING how jacked-up the traffic gets when the trucks leave for an emergency. Not complaining, by the way - I get that somebody is in trouble but we do make a point of leaving earlier than we normally would depending upon the appointment and time of day.

I lived directly across from Montgomery General in Olney for many years. I don't ever recall hearing any ambulances. Ever. Occasionally (very, very rarely), a helicopter would fly over and it always felt like it was 2 inches from tearing the roof right off our house. It was super nice to be in such close proximity in times of illness and when our children were born. Plus we were able to take advantage of the doctor's offices in the building next door.

Your concerns about the noise from ambulances and fire trucks also concern me. Also increased pedestrian, outpatient, and visitor traffic. I mean - that's also the reason I wouldn't live on top of a school either. To each their own.

Is it a teaching hospital?

Can residents and fellows afford the house?

Looking at a house a block away from a hospital. Apparently ambulances have to turn their sirens off within close proximity, but I'm wondering if there are other issues I should be concerned about. Anyone buy/not buy a house right near a hospital that could chime in? Thank you!!
