For me, yes.

If I had no children and just got married? I would definitely try to have a baby.

But at 40, I have children and do not want to start that part over.

I think it's a very personal choice. But I'd ask myself what kind of grandmother I want to be. If you have a baby at 40, you could very likely be in your 70s when that child has a child. My mothers help and support when I had my children was invaluable to me and I want to be that kind of grandmother.

We adopted DD when I was 40. I didnt think I was too old. She is 5 now and I am almost 45, still dont feel too old.
I do think I am not ready for another one though. If I didnt have to work, maybe, but working and being the primary parent when im not at work is exhausting

DH is 47 and we just had our 2nd three months ago. He has more energy than I do and I'm 32. So I say it's fine depending on the person.

Don’t listen to anyone who is in the middle of having a newborn OP. That’s the part where every particle in your body says. - don’t ever do this again!!! Warn the others!!!!

I agree that it mostly matters how you feel.

I was 36 when I had my second. I'll be 55 when he graduates HS (only 3 years. I've never felt too old to be his mom and no one has ever suggested that I seem "too old" to be his mom.

If you had a baby at 40, you would be 58 or 59 when the child graduates HS. That seems reasonable to me.

For me it is. 38 with a newborn. I don't think I could do this at 40

So many variables. No one can answer this for you.

It wouldn't have been too old for me if I genuinely wanted another child.

We are thinking about trying for another baby but I’m 40 and have mixed feelings.

Am I too old?
