What kind of donations do you think the ivy league expect to make a difference

What’s the legacy, but no donation acceptance rate for Columbia, ED and Penn, ED? Assume perfect scores but no hooks as described by others.

If you dont donate at. all. ever, is status the same as someone who isn't a legacy?

Depends on the school. Since I went to UVA my daughter will be [b]assessed against the in-state pool vs. out of state
. I would still have to pay OOS tuition though.

But that's not good. It's become even more difficult to get into UVA (you need higher stats) to get in in-state than OOS. There's a thread on this recently. 4.34 gpa. 31-35 ACT. At least top 10% of class. You're also now competing against the international students who have amazing test scores.

The in-state acceptance rate is over 40%, the OOS is around 20%. It's absolutely easier to get in from in-state.

Yes, having an alum as a parent is a hook but that means different things at different schools. At one ivy that I’m familiar with it means that your child’s application will get a more thorough read....which is a decent advantage given how overwhelmed admissions offices are these days. I know many NESCACs have days on campus dedicated to coaching the children of alums on the application process which is an advantage as well.

Not a hook in the sense that it can bring up stats. IME, it means a ‘soft no’ AKA waitlist if the stats are there.

Sorry, not a hook.
