I went to school every day last year and pulled my kids out of the huddles. I think if more parents went in and watched these daily brainwashing sessions and heard their kids literally chanting "Get pledges!" they would be less inclined to participate. My kids go to school to learn, not to get hyped up to be the top car salesman of the quarter.

Thank you both! Our PTA got a new president last year and she mentioned bringing in Boosterthon. I know I wasn't the only parent who was against it, and she did eventually nix the idea. I'm surprised principals at any school allow it. I wouldn't let the people in charge of this company "educate" my kids about anything.

Exactlly -- we just had this at our school.
They have an assembly every day for 2 weeks for this.
No good way to skip it.

My kids' FCPS ES has had Boosterthon for a few years. And the PTA heard all the complaints.

So we tried a simple donation request this year. Which resulted in us coming up a bit short from what we usually end up with Boosterthon. This, despite the fact that the donation was 100% tax deductible plus no teaching time was utilized.

Are you ok with giving money to your kids school PTS and 1/2 of every dollar goes to a for profit company?
Why would you not just donate directly to the scools PTA? It is tax deductible and 100% goes back to the school.
Anyone know why is FCPS still allowing boosterthon when rules say no?
