Hey, whatever works for you, PP! Considering most people say anyone from a T3-T4 school will never do anything beyond doc review, if they ever practice law at all, I think it's great.

This. I went to a T4 school, graduated about 15 years ago, and I have a federal government job. Decent pay, great benefits, and awesome hours and flexibility. I'm very happy professionally and personally. Don't believe all the doom and gloom about lower tier law schools.

Not OP, but yes you are a b! What is wrong with people that have no appreciation for a decent salary and act like multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars is necessary to “have it good”?

Because in the PPs fantasy world, unless you’re making a household income of $300k-$400k minimum, have a nanny, and live in at least a $1.2 million house, you’re mediocre.

PP doesn’t realize that many folks rather have work-life balance and a very solid income, versus a $300k+ income working 12-16 hour days plus weekends.

PP and his/her SO probably are in therapy, on anti-depressants, drink to cope with their existence, and use coke and or benzos. But life is great with all that money.

See above - the specializing was most important. Also, frankly, being a cool and normal person. Many lawyers with better academics are socially awkward and/or overconfident. Good personality and being easy to work with goes farther than people think.

What was your path? I went to a top 50 school, 3.1 law school GPA, currently work for DC gov in a mediocre position, 4 years out of law school. But looking to move forward. Have a strong interest in finance/regulatory compliance, but not working in that area of law.

Keeping path general but the basic idea was a very niche specialty. Combo of small-time clerkship, small firms, and prior in-house before getting this job. All within specialty (which I didn't focus on at all in law school, ironically).
