Health plans typically cover the 1st year of cryopreservation for the 1st year only. All subsequent storage fees for the following year is a private pay.

Fairfax Cryobank has less expensive storage - just $395.

Shady Grove just went up to $600 a year and I have 2 separate batches. $1200 a year on top of everything is pretty steep.

My insurance won’t cover it and I have insurance that pretty much covers everything including multiple cycles of IVF. My embryos are stored outside of DC and we pay $500 a year

How much if they don't cover any of it?

I did - both my united and Aetna plans covered a year of cryopreservation. Shady grove told me my insurance wouldn't cover it and I told them to at least TRY to bill insurance since my plan summary said they would cover it. So they did and it worked.

Hi - I have embryos frozen at Shady Grove Fertility. The first year was covered by my insurance. The second year they did not even try to bill to my insurance. Has anyone had luck with getting their insurance to cover embryo storage fees after the first year?
