mostly, with suede, you clean to remove dirt and then brush to return the soft finish

This has happened to me several times. Honestly, I get them restored at the dry cleaners every year. They've worked magic for me.

white chalk and erasers will get out dirty marks but you do probably need to take them to the cleaners to get out water stain. there is one on Cordell Ave in bethesda who specialize in this.
