I have a lot of fond memories of Idlewild - it's great for younger kids, but tweens/teens aren't going to get that much out of it. I haven't gone since I was a kid myself, and I'm not sure how much tickets were then, but $45 seems like a lot per person. Also Ligonier is about an hour outside of Pittsburgh (probably longer, depending on where you're staying in Pittsburgh, and tunnel traffic which can be ridiculous). Ligonier itself is a really pretty town, so if you do make it up that way, I'd encourage you to check it out. The town square is straight out of Gilmore Girls. They also have a fort from the French and Indian War that's also pretty cool.

All of that to say - if you don't have youngish kids, or you're looking for more bang for your buck, Kennywood might be a better bet. They have actual, major roller coasters that are cool at any age.

If you’re still out there OP, I just saw this on Facebook.

Giant Eagle sponsors “carload days” where it’s a little less than $100 for, as the name suggests, everyone in the car. Last year this was the first week of June but I don’t see the 2018 dates up yet. Revisit this in March/April.

You can usually get discounted tickets at local grocery stores, like Giant Eagle. Definitely follow them on social media for updates!

You never know. It was almost 80 degrees when my family went this year. No lines for the rides...it was great.

Not sure about Kennywood but Idlewild has discounts all the time on their Facebook page. Keep in mind it’ll more than likely be chilly there at that time of year, probably too cold for the Soak Zone. One tip that you’re a little too late for this year is to go to Hallowboo in the fall-it’s about 20 bucks pp. They give you a coupon for a return visit the following summer that is a pretty decent discount. Also, buy tickets at Giant Eagle for a discount, not at the park. There’s a Giant Eagle about 5 min from Idlewild.

Would like to do these ok trip to Pittsburg in late spring around Memorial Day. One day tickets are so expensive. $45-50 pp. We are a family of 4. Any ideas for discounts?
