FYI === it's only for screening to take Algebra in 7th grade. Anyone can take Algebra in 8th or 9th. IAAT is not used for that.

In FCPS, kids have to have 91% on the IAAT and pass adv. on 7th grade math SOL (taken in 6th grade adv. math) in order to qualify. Some say that kids really shouldn't take algebra in 7th unless they score 95% on IAAT -- but that isn't the rule.

And even if your kid meets those benchmarks, they don't HAVE To take Algebra in 7th. They can wait until 8th.

It's sometime in January. DS invited his friend over last winter break and he said he couldn't come because he had to spend the whole break studying for that test. Hopefully, he was exaggerating but I felt so bad. Poor child.
