I think that is totally appropriate.

I agree. You might end up in the enviable position of having competing offers. But you need to be careful to not overplay your hand, seem desperate, tick off the offering group, etc...

OP again. On Monday, the recruiter said that she hadn't been able to touch base with the hiring managers yet (she had been traveling) and was planning to do it on Tuesday.

I haven't heard anything. I know that they are probably keeping me in the background while they pursue their first choice candidate.

If they wanted to hire me, they would be on the ball, right?

I have had two interviews; one with the recruiter, and one with a few hiring managers. Last Thursday, the recruiter said he would follow up with me on Monday. It's almost COB and I haven't heard anything. Is it appropriate for me to give him a call when I leave work in an hour or so?

I know the reality is that he will call me if/when he needs to, and that it's possible they are reaching out to their first choice candidate before dismissing me. But I really want this job, and I might not be thinking with a level head.
