I also stayed with family mostly because I didn’t want to be alone. My ex was abusive and I needed the emotional support. I don’t know if I would have made it otherwise. I was in bad shape. I’m glad I had family who were there for me. No shame in that.

We started off in separate bedrooms but it was just too weird. So less than a month later I rented my own place (I’m the woman, he’d owned the house before we were married so I didn’t want anything from it).
