It may be worth looking at a newer car that alerts her to drifting lanes, stops automatically, etc. It sucks giving her something new that she could easily destroyer, but hopefully it stops her in time.

Is she willing to retake drivers ed? I agree on the newer car also.

I have a friend like your wife. She talks non-stop and is a lousy driver. I don't know if it is undiagnosed ADHD but we will never let her drive us or our children. She doesn't know why, but it's a firm family understanding. We meet her at the outings. And, yes, she's had some disastrous smack-ups.

New cars will not let you do this.

Agreed. After your points on your license fall so low, you actually lose your license just like a drunk driver.

Get her a car with automatic brakes! The newer cars will stop before a fender bender happens.

I am hardly a model driver when it comes to distractions and I've had two accidents my whole life - backing into my dad's car in the driveway, and tapping the bumper in front of me in highway traffic. Once a year is a really alarming number of accidents. I think you should consider a driving assessment.

That's nuts. People like her should have their license revoked. Why we give a license to anyone with a pulse in this country, then let them keep it forever without retesting, is a goddamn mystery to me.

Is it cheaper to keep fixing things or only let her take the bus, train, and uber? You decide.

What is she like when she is not driving? Do you ever let her drive and just observe to see if you can spot any tendencies? Does she have attention deficit disorder? If you have kids I'd really be concerned. Does she talk on the phone in the car?

She got into another fender bender for no other reason than being careless. She admits this herself, by the way, I'm not making it up. Most recent accident she admits she was looking at her GPS and turned into the adjacent lane without looking at the mirror at all; just turned I guess based on faith alone. I'm frustrated. What can/should I do? She has an accident of one type or another every 6 to 9 months on average. Luckily so far nothing major but I am at my wit's end.
