Madison is the best of a second rate system. Not saying much.

If his dream school is Michigan, pretty sure he doesn't mind the cold.

Michigan is cold, but not Wisconsin cold.

Second this. We visited, and my kid loved it. It wasn't the best fit for his major; otherwise, it was one of his top picks overall based on our experience on campus. We know several people who are there now and they all love it.

No one travels all the way from the DMZ to UW-Zero.

Plus, if you lived there you'd know that with no qualifying letter we cheeseheads mean madison. "UWM" is Milwaukee.

A fantastic, fun school that is well respected. Blindingly white, though.

Much better school than OSU in many fields. Great campus/location — fun mix of nature/urban environment. Last I checked (2 years ago), they weren’t price-gouging OOS students as much as Ann Arbor does. Have friends who have taught there, grad students who went to college there, know a few recent grads (from a wide range of fields). All are smart, nice, well-educated, down-to-earth people.

Seems to be gaining in popularity lately....but keep in mind that roughy 60% of the students are from in-state.

OSU would also work for that major.

Wisconsin is a good school, and Madison is a nice town. It's sort of a classic Big 10 kind of place -- overall pretty strong, lots of spirit, tons of students.

Most of my friends who went there loved it, and it's the kind of place where it seems like there's sort of a niche and friend group for every kind of person. Madison is a capital so while it isn't huge, there is plenty of non-college stuff going on there, which is nice.

Seems like 3-5 kids every year from our HS go. I don't know much about the school but it seems like it could be a good match for DC's interests - looking at a major in biology, kiniesiology, or exercise/sport science with an interest in becoming a physical or occupational therapist, 3.8 UW GPA, 31 ACT (taking SAT on November 4th), wants a big school. So far DC has University of Maryland, University of Michigan (reach), and Pittsburgh on the list.
