I have been with BF for 3 years. If I didn't actually want to see the friend I would make up some excuse (like she did although mine would be more thoughtful) so does she actually want to see this person??
Yes, I would generally have no problem changing plans with BF last minute if it was something I wanted to do. However, we both travel for work frequently and he travels every other weekend so I do consider the weekends we are both in town to be "sacred"...I would only change plans if it was something I really wanted to do.

She says she is having dinner with her boyfriend. And then shopping with and having dinner with her boyfriend on Saturday and staying in with him on Sunday as well.
Erm I understand not wanting to change plans with a new boyfriend but after a free years...can't you tell your bf to spontaneously change plans?
